We speak with Casey Clark, Senior Vice President for Strategic Communications at the American Gaming Association, about the purpose and potential impact of the Congressional Gaming Caucus.

The American Gaming Association congratulates co-chairs Rep. Bennie Thompson (MS-02) and Rep. Guy Reschenthaler (PA-14) for relaunching the Congressional Gaming Caucus for the 116th Congress. The caucus, comprised of a broad representation of more than 30 members of Congress from across the country, will serve as a platform to discuss federal policy issues related to the U.S. casino industry and educate Congressional colleagues on related regulatory and legislative matters.

“Relaunching the Congressional Gaming Caucus is one of the American Gaming Association’s top priorities, and I’m grateful to Reps. Thompson and Reschenthaler for their leadership,” said Bill Miller, AGA President and CEO.

History of the Congressional Gaming Caucus:

After many years on inactivity, the Congressional Gaming Caucus was relaunched again in 2020 by Rep. Guy Reschenthaler (R-PA) and Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-MS), and is currently chaired by Reschenthaler and Rep. Dina Titus (D-NV).

The Congressional Gaming Caucus was originally formed in the 20th century, as a means for Gambling and Casino Companies to have their voices heard on Congressional Issues. However, since many states at the time had imposed a ban on gambling, the Congressional Caucus went under the name of the Congressional Gaming Caucus.

The Caucus was dissolved in the latter half of the 20th century, but continued to exist informally until it was officially reestablished in 2013 by Rep. Joe Heck (R-NV) and Bennie Thompson (D-MS).
